Buying glasses should be simple.
But once you start hearing about lens materials, coatings, progressive lenses, frame measurements and different designs, it can quickly become confusing.
Here's how the process works at West Sight Optical.
Step 1: Get Your Eye Exam and Prescription
West Sight Optical does not perform eye exams.
You'll first need to visit an optometrist or ophthalmologist and receive a valid prescription.
Once you have your prescription, you can bring it to us.
Step 2: Choose Your Frames
This is the fun part.
We carry a wide selection of prescription eyewear, including modern, classic and designer frames.
But don't choose a frame based only on how it looks.
It should also fit your face properly.
A frame that's too wide may slide around.
A frame that's too narrow can create uncomfortable pressure.
The bridge should sit properly, and the temples should rest comfortably without excessive pressure.
Step 3: Choose Your Lenses
Your prescription helps determine what type of lenses are appropriate.
We offer options including single vision lenses, progressive lenses, bifocals, digital/freeform designs, computer and occupational lenses, safety eyewear and prescription sunglasses.
Different prescriptions and lifestyles require different lens solutions.
Someone who spends all day driving may have different priorities than someone working in front of a computer all day.
Step 4: Measurements and Fitting
Accurate measurements are an important part of making prescription glasses.
Once your frame and lens options are selected, we take the measurements needed to properly position your lenses.
Then, once your glasses arrive, we make sure they fit properly and make any necessary adjustments.
